Why We Love This Recipe For Maple Mint Vodka Spritzer
I have been thinking about these maple mint spritzers for weeks. In fact, I have Maple Mint Vodka Spritzers written in orange marker on a piece of paper hanging right over my computer screen.
My idea was these mint cocktails would be was this lightly sweet, refreshing mint-seltzer water-spritzer thingy. Doesn’t that sound good? Oh and they’re just a little boozed up with vodka!
Since these vodka spritzes really only require five simple ingredients, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to make this for your next cookout, dinner party or dare I say, brunch. You can even make a few virgin spritzes for those who don’t drink alcohol.
They’re also easy to make single serving so why not mix yourself up a spritz on a hot afternoon when you need some extra relaxation time. And while you’re out picking some fresh mint, I definitely recommend trying my Dark Rum, Mint and Lime Cocktails, too.
Key Ingredients For This Recipe
Fresh mint
I would absolutely consider mint one of the main ingredients in this recipe so try and find mint leaves that are bright green, firm and super fresh. Muddling the mint in the bottom of the glasses will help to release the oils from the leaves, however the goal isn’t to completely crush it. Lightly press until some of the leaves are broken up and the oils and flavors are released.
Pure maple syrup, dark or amber
I love using maple syrup in my cocktail recipes. Not only because it’s a natural sweetener but because of it’s caramel tones and unique flavor. Since I live in Vermont I always use Vermont maple syrup, but use whichever you can get your hands on.
Vodka
Since the vodka I used–Literary Dog–is not available all over, please feel free to make this drink with another good vodka. Though if you can find it, it is worth trying.
Seltzer water
Seltzer water is the best way to add fizziness without adding extra calories. I like using plain non-flavored seltzer water but you can use flavored if that’s what you have at home (although I wouldn’t go too crazy–try to stick with lemon or lime in that case).
Ice
You don’t need a lot, but your drink will taste so much more refreshing with a scoop of ice!
Step-by-Step Instructions to Make This Vodka Spritzer
Divide the mint equally between two tall glasses. Pour in the maple syrup and muddle with a wooden muddling stick or the back of a narrow wooden spoon. Add ice and vodka and top it off with seltzer.
FAQs and Expert Tips
If you’re making a large batch of this drink, muddle the mint and maple together in the bottom of a pitcher. Pour in the vodka and store, covered, in the fridge until ready to serve. When ready to serve, top it off with seltzer water and ice.
If you can’t find any good maple I would suggest using agave syrup instead (in a 1:1 ratio). In a pinch, use honey. Just beware that your drink will taste different than intended, especially if you opt for honey.

Gorgeous photos of the drinks, Katie! I don’t think I’ve ever had a vodka drink flavored with just mint and maple syrup before, but it sounds so refreshing. I need to try this some time!
GORGEOUS photos, Katie. Just gorgeous.
Maple liquor is so dangerous. This sounds like a cocktail I would love to try. I’m heading to Vermont in May and can’t wait to taste all of the syrup, ice cream and beer. 🙂
Dear Katie, Beautiful drink…I love the photos too. This sounds so refreshing and cool. A perfect summer cocktail. xo, Catherine
These sound unbelievably refreshing, and I love that you used a local spirit. There’s a vodka distilled in northern WI that would be perfect with it (and of course we love our maple syrup here too), so I can guarantee this baby will be happening in my life!
Oh, mint and maple sounds like such a great combo! These look amazing!
These really do look beautiful! We have a few artisan distilleries in the area and more pop up all the time. I wish this vodka was available to me I’d love to try it!
