This year has been full of so many delicious recipes and memorable moments. Thank you so much to all of you who have been here in 2018.
First of all, if you are still looking for a couple of ideas for this weekend and Christmas next week, here are a couple links for you.
Last Minute Christmas Recipes
No Bake Clementine Rum Balls (decidedly boozy!)
Spicy Deviled Eggs (you probably have all these ingredients on hand)
Vegan Hermit Cookies (super easy- just stir, pour and bake!)
Easy Cheesy Stovetop Butternut Squash (a super delicious and savory side dish that doesn’t need space in the oven)
Pomegranate Martini (so festive, sweet and tart!)
Looking Back on 2018
Looking back on on this year, I would have to say the single notable positive thing was that we renovated our barn which now houses the Food Nerd Studio where I am now doing all of my recipe development and food photography. Which opened up a whole new world of opportunity including I had the largest freelance photography contract to date. I lead my first RetrEAT Vermont food photography workshop.
Another note, much more somber, is the loss of my dear friend Maggie. She lost her battle with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer this fall. She was a complete badass and full of so much positive energy. I miss her deeply.
“It wasn’t my choice to have cancer, but I do get to choose how I respond to it. We don’t have much control over how we die, but we certainly choose how we live. There is no invitation to live fabulously. It’s a choice, and I make it every day.”
~Maggie Van Duyn (you can read more here.)
Maggie started a non-profit called Maggie’s Brightside and I am on the board of directors. If you have room in your end-of-year budget, a donation will help us carry on Maggie’s mission of making the lives of cancer patients in Vermont brighter. Thank you in advance!
